Bopath Ella waterfalls is at Rathnapura Sri Lanka and 30m height. This waterfall located at 6°48 N 80°22 E. Main water source for the waterfall is Kuru Ganga. The fall is very beautiful and seems as leaf of 'Bo'. There fore this is known as Bopathella waterfall. Waterfall is 3Km away from Rathnapura Town. Kuruwita is closest town to the waterfall.
The waterfall has been used for bathing by ancient rulers of the country when they visited the nearby Maha Saman Devale in Ratnapura. There are several myths associated with Bopath Ella. One such belief is that a local village girl jumped into the waterfall and killed herself when her lover abandoned her. He was reputedly a pilgrim from Colombo who failed to return to the pregnant girl.
